Within ‘The Orchard’ we intend to introduce a more structured daily routine to help prepare the children for the next stage in their development; the transition to primary school. A variety of opportunities have been specifically designed to encourage early literacy skills including a programme called ‘Letters and Sounds Phase One’. Short and simple activities such as these are used as part of our daily routine to extend your child’s learning and development.

During the summer term, we will aim to work in partnership with your child’s teacher to ensure they have a smooth transition into their Reception class. We understand that the transition from nursery to school can be an emotional experience for both children and parents so we intend to plan specific activities to support and ease this stage of development.
