My Story
It was after speaking with other parents in my local area of Bignall End and Audley that I realised there was a need for greater childcare provision.
As a local mum, with two children, I had often been involved in conversations with other parents and the question of childcare had been raised.
As a qualified Nursery Practitioner, with a lifetime of work in the childcare sector, it is something which had often struck a chord with me – that there was no purpose-built childcare provision available locally.
And so, like any budding new business owner, I did some more formal research which backed up what I’d been hearing from other parents.
A Career in Childcare and Nursery Day Care
An interest in the welfare and development of children has guided my working life from the beginning. Even as far back as 2003, when I began an apprenticeship in childcare at another local day nursery.
I found being involved in the daily working of the nursery highly rewarding and went on to complete both an NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 in Early Years Practice with distinction. In addition to ten years nursery practice, in 2013 I found myself graduating from Manchester Metropolitan University with a BA (Hons) in Childhood Studies.
Of course, education and qualifications are important but so is real world experience. And so I am grateful for my role as Pre-school Supervisor, which I held until I had my own children in 2014.
As with any profession, it’s also been important to keep up to date with the latest developments in childcare and I’ve achieved this through attendance of early years courses, conferences and training workshops. As such, I obtained Early Years Professional Status (EYP) in 2013.
My Dream to Bring Childcare to Bignall End
The prospect of developing and running my own nursery has always been an ambition of mine. Reflecting on my career, this is probably what has driven me to complete the NVQs, the Early Years Foundation Degree and obtain my BA (Hons) in Childhood Studies. Not to mention, all those years nurturing children of various ages.
The Future: Purpose-built Day Nursery
My family and I are now excited by the prospect of delivering a high level of childcare in our local area. There are lots of challenges but lots of opportunities to create a safe, secure and welcoming day nursery for your child.
As we continue on this journey, I look forward to keeping you up to date with our progress and, ultimately, welcoming you to our new nursery.
Best wishes,
Jayne Johnson
